  1. Determine the relationship between weather and climate.

  1. Draw chalk shapes on asphalt pavement.
  2. Students use gross-motor movement to: jump into the shape; jump out of the shape; walk, hop, or skip around the perimeter of the shape; and jump over the shape.
Art
  1. Shape clouds out of cotton balls and glue on a vertical wall hanging.
  2. Make the stratus clouds light and fluffy.
  3. Make the cumulus clouds big,from top to bottom of the paper.
  4. Make the cirrus clouds billowy.
  5. Display the wall hanging.
Technology Ed
  1. Design an original cloud shape.
  2. Use finger-paint paper and paint to make the design.
  3. Name the design.
Mathematics
  1. Identify cloud shapes as closed or open figures.
  2. Draw closed cloud shapes.
  3. Draw open cloud shapes.
  4. Compare cloud shapes to geometric shapes (i.e., circle, rectangle, square, oval, and triangle).
Science
  1. Observe cloud formations.
  2. Record cloud formations observed into their record-keeping log.
  3. Identify the different cloud formations (i.e., cirrus, stratus, and cumulus) using a reference book from the library.
Music
  1. Sing a version of the song "Tell Me Why?" (i.e., Tell me why the sky has clouds).
  2. Have children use body movements to show the shape of the clouds as they sing the song.
Language Arts
  1. Read It Looked Like Spilt Milk.
  2. Reread the story until leach child can contribute the name of a different object to the statement: "It looked like spilt milk, but it was really_______. Compose a group sequel to the story.
  3. Contribute original versions to the statement: "It looked like spilt milk, but it was really____________.
  4. Share the group story with others.

  1. Demonstrate our health needs are affected by the weather.
  2. Ask "What does your body do when it is a sunny day?
  3. What does your body do on a cloudy day?"
  4. Discuss how the human body reacts according to the weather conditions.
