"WildlifeMapping"
is a 3-12 grade "student as researcher" program sponsored by the Virginia
Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Christiansburg Elementary School
3-5 graders are receiving valuable environmental training by exchanging
wildlife distribution between community and state levels. Students learn
how to observe and report species identification by taking a census of
wildlife in their community.

"The
Wildlife Garden" project at Christiansburg Elementary School (CES) is designed
to attract wildlife to our school site. The goal is to plan CES landscaping
(perennial garden, annual garden, and nature trail) that will provide
wildlife habitat. It will also increase the environmental awareness of
our third, fourth, and fifth graders by having them observe and gather
data on plant and animal species at their school community.
